About Bchaaleh Village
Bchaaleh is home to the Millennial Olive Trees, locally known as Noah’s olive trees—living monuments believed to be over 6,000 years old and among the oldest olive trees in the world. Still producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil, they embody a timeless bond between people, land, and heritage.
Located at an altitude ranging between 1,200 and 1,300 meters above sea level in North Lebanon’s Batroun district, the village overlooks forests, valleys, and olive terraces that shape a distinctive rural landscape. Its terrain bears the marks of ancient civilizations, with landmarks such as Bab El Temm Rock and Al-Hosn Fortress, a natural citadel built on Phoenician, Roman, and medieval remains.
Bchaaleh’s identity is further reflected in its historic churches and monasteries, where cultural life continues through art, music, and living traditions. Today, the village stands as a pioneer of inclusive, community-led rural tourism, welcoming all visitors to explore hiking and cultural trails, the Ecomuseum of Olive Tree Culture, and hands-on experiences rooted in heritage and local life.
